Progress Midlands 2012 hosted by Stafford and Rural Homes

Tuesday 28 February 2012 9am-1pm

Description:

‘Progress – Leadership in Housing’ are a series of regional designed to be a forum for leadership, an opportunity for social housing’s leaders to learn from their peers, share ideas, network and discover good practice.

Progress Midlands 2012, hosted by Karen Armitage, Chief Executive of Stafford and Rural Homes, is taking place on Tuesday 28 February from 9am-1pm.

The event is taking place at Stafford and Rural Homes Head Office, and will include breakfast, presentations by Karen Armitage and Neil Tryner, Head of Business at Midland Heart, facilitated round table discussions chaired by experts, and the opportunity to network over lunch.

Progress Midlands will examine the theme ‘A House or a Home? Flexible housing for the future’.

The Government’s forthcoming Localism Bill calls for concerted thinking on how best to manage fixed term tenancies, and deliver new “freedoms and flexibilities” to social landlords in the UK.
Flexible tenure provides the opportunity to work proactively with tenants to achieve the security of ‘home’, whilst allowing for adaptable management of the national housing stock.

Progress Midlands will provide a platform for discussion and debate on the changing role and new responsibilities for social housing, empowering key decision makers to deliver a blueprint for the sustainable communities of the future.
