£1.7m development for over 55’s completes in Rotherham

A new £1.7 million housing scheme has been unveiled in the village of North Anston, Rotherham, offering homes for people aged over 55.

Willow Chase has been developed by Sanctuary Group and comprises 16 two-bedroom apartments for older people. The scheme has been made possible thanks to the combined efforts of Sanctuary, Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council, the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) and local developers Cooke and Knight.

To mark the completion of the new scheme, an official opening was held for partners involved in the project and the first of the residents who have moved in.

Special guest for the event was Councillor Shaun Wright, the mayor of Rotherham Metropolitan Borough, who marked the occasion by unveiling a commemorative plaque.

He said: “I am very impressed by this development in North Anston. The design and standard of workmanship is excellent and talking to the new residents it is clear that they are equally pleased with their new homes.”

Set across two blocks, Willow Chase has been built to Level 3 of the Code for Sustainable Homes and incorporates a range of energy efficient features including solar photovoltaic cells and highly efficient gas condensing boilers. Additional features include a cycle and buggy store, landscaped communal garden area and secure door entry system to all properties.

The development has also received Secured by Design accreditation from the South Yorkshire Police, which recognises homes that have been developed to design out crime.
