£40,000 worth of improvements on Watergate estate

A council estate in Crook is set to benefit from a £40,000 improvement programme which will continue into the new-year.

The houses in Ennerdale Drive and Scafell Gardens on the Watergate estate are the centre of an environmental improvement programme.

The work is being carried out by Dunelm Property Services on behalf of Dale & Valley Homes, which manage the properties.

New garden fences are the most significant part of the work to improve the look of the area and make individual homes more secure.

Kevin White, assistant director of property services for Dale & Valley Homes, said: “We have been able to make some savings on our Decent Homes budget and decided to spend the money improving this area.

“Providing fences gives each home a defensible space and makes residents feel more secure, which the residents had identified as something they wanted. This simple thing should make a big difference to people living in the area.

“Work has already started and will be continuing into February.”
