15 year old scoops £1,000 talent show prize
Oxfordshire residents of all ages showcased their talents at the final of A2Dominion’s Star Catchers talent competition, with 15 year old Elise Price being crowed winner and scooping a prize of £1,000.
An audience of more than 500 people were entertained by a variety of acts including singers, dancers and rappers on Saturday 24 July, at the Kassam Stadium in Oxford, all competing for a prize designed to enhance and encourage performing arts skills and talent.
Despite fierce competition, Elise Price impressed the judges with her professional singing and dancing performance to a medley of tunes including ‘I want you back’ by Michael Jackson. Singer Patti Mirek and rapper Philby Nightingale were runners-up.
Star Catchers was organised by local housing provider A2Dominion Group, with the support of a number of sponsors and partners to provide 50 residents with access to free performing arts training, professional advice and mentoring.
Lorna Anderson, customer services director for A2Dominion said: “The event was a great success and we were hugely impressed with the talents displayed by tenants across Oxfordshire. Star Catchers has been a really positive project for residents in this area, bringing people young and old together for a fun and rewarding community event.”
Star catchers winner, Elise Price said: “Star Catchers was awesome and the best competition I have been to. The other competitors and judges were so supportive and friendly. Although I felt nervous before I was introduced on to the stage, winning has helped increase my confidence. I am going to put my prize money towards developing my career in performing.”
