Bike riders cycle 300 miles in aid of charity
Fundraisers from Salford housing association, City West Housing Trust, cycled 300 miles from London to Paris to support Kidney Research UK.
The Eiffel tower was the finishing post for 16 members of staff, family and friends who raised over £27,000 for the charity.
The event was completed by David Cummins, Dave and Fran Wright, Nigel Sedman, Lisa Scully, Vic Wright, Adrian Briscoe, Tim Doyle, John Shelmerdine, Mark McGahey, Steve Fallon, Alison McDonald, Peter and Gill Weaver and Mike Hack.
Kieran Rainsford, from Savills Commercial Limited, also completed the challenge.
Chief executive at City West Housing Trust, Tim Doyle, said: “Everyone who took part agreed that it was without doubt the most demanding challenge we have ever taken part in but also the most rewarding.”
“We’ve been really moved and incredibly inspired by some of the stories we’ve heard about people suffering from kidney disease and how they battle to overcome it so it’s been an honour to support such a worthy cause.”
To achieve the fundraising target for Kidney Research UK, City West held a range of events in the months leading up to the challenge including a charity golf day which saw the executive management team auctioned to caddy a round at Shaw Hill Golf Club, while a dinner saw prizes donated by a host of City West’s contractors and consultants auctioned off too.
