Bracknell Forest Homes warn illegal fly-tippers
Housing association Bracknell Forest Homes and Thames Valley Police have teamed up to clamp down on cases of illegal fly tipping.
Nearly 100 illegally dumped tyres were found in the garage area of Shepherds Lane, Priestwood this month. The housing association’s Neighbourhood Estate Action Team (NEAT), which patrols the local areas to make sure they are kept clean and safe, discovered the dumped tyres after reports from local residents. Plans were quickly made to have the tyres removed and Police and Council officers are warning against this anti-social behaviour.
Linda Wells, housing and community services director at Bracknell Forest Homes, said: “Our NEAT Team (Neighbourhood Estate Action Team) is very proactive in the local estates and working closely with the Police and the Council to enhance the local environment and make the area safe and pleasant.
“These instances are not tolerated and are illegal so we will prosecute people who commit these offences and spoil the area for other residents.”
The NEAT Team is increasing its patrol and introducing CCTV to improve estates. Police and Police Community Support Officers can also be seen regularly patrolling estates.
A trial estate action day is taking place in Harmans Water on Thursday June 25. This day is a hands on event to improve the communal surroundings of Harmans Water.
Led by the Neighbourhood Estate Action Team (NEAT), members of the Council, Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs), Police service, Mears Property Services and Tesco (Harmans Water), will be pounding the streets to litter pick, tidy borders, repair and paint some door entrance areas, remove graffiti and take action against abandoned cars.
New hanging baskets will be put up as well as tidying footpaths around Culham, Rushey and Cleeve House. Graffiti in the area will be cleaned up and window sills cleaned, as well as many other jobs.
