Bradfordians to have their say in council’s 20-year plan for growth
People are being invited to share their views on the future of managing development and growth in the Bradford district over the next two decades.
Residents of Bradford in West Yorkshire are being invited to give their views on the future management of the city and its metropolitan district’s development and growth over the next 20 years.
As part of a 12-week public engagement on the council’s Local Development Framework's (LDF) core strategy, Bradford Council has set up drop-in consultation events during November and December for local residents and other interested parties to find out more about the document and to share their views.
"We welcome residents' input and hope they will take the opportunity to attend these consultation events being held right across the district,” said Councillor Val Slater, executive member for change programme, housing and planning.
"We will work with local communities to develop the plan responsibly. It is really important that we get this right as it will help determine the future use of land for housing, employment or health and wellbeing purposes.
"For now it is more about setting out the vision for the area rather than determining specific sites which will be worked up at a later stage."
The council says that the drop-in events will give the public the opportunity to learn more about the Core Strategy Development Plan Document (DPD) which is a key planning document within the LDF.
The documents set out broad locations for development over the next 15 years and sets out policies that will influence the use of land and the type and scale of development permitted, as well as identifying key infrastructure requirements. Views and comments are invited to be submitted by 20 January and will be taken into account when producing the next stage of the Core Strategy DPD.
