Brent Housing Partnership gets 5 stars for Health and Safety

Brent Housing Partnership (BHP) has officially been awarded a certificate for achieving a five star rating - the highest possible rating - following its recent British Safety Council (BSC) Five Star Health and Safety Management System Audit.

BHP was presented with the certificate at BSC’s award ceremony held on 30 June at HQS Wellington.

The BSC undertook a week long audit at BHP’s offices in early February 2011; they reviewed all of the policies and procedures, undertook site visits across the housing stock and interviewed staff right across the organisation.

The accreditation lasts for three years, and BHP will be regularly assessed to ensure it is continuously improving services, and maintaining health and safety.

Gerry Doherty, chief executive of BHP, said: “We joined the British Safety Council not to achieve this award for awards sake but to externally test ourselves in this increasing demanding area of Health and Safety. We were told at the start of the audit that it was very rare for an organisation to achieve the 5 star status at its first attempt, and therefore the result is something that staff can feel justifiably proud of.”
