Bus gives air cadets a flying start
Air cadets in Prescot can now enjoy more trips and training after a donation from Knowsley Housing Trust (KHT).
KHT’S Prescot Area Board gave £6,000 to the Prescot 1438 Air Training Squadron and Prescot Air Cadets to buy a mini-bus.
The Cadets, which formed in 1941, helps over 50 youths aged from 13 to 20-years-old have fun, gain qualifications and learn life skills.
The new mini bus will help them continue to provide trips and adventures and help their many sporting teams compete up and down the country.
Joe Riley, a pilot officer from the cadets, said: “The Air Cadets are the best-kept secret in Knowsley.
“We help the participants make friends and learn about discipline and good conduct.
“We also have a full academic syllabus which we teach. We have leadership courses, football and rugby teams and various trips throughout the year that the mini bus will help us with enormously.”
Vince Cullen, from KHT’s Prescot Area Board, said: “The Air Cadets are a great, fun way for young people to learn new skills and it is fantastic they can now get on the road and take advantage of wider opportunities.”
