Care village raises £500 for charity
Residents and staff at a care village in Newcastle under Lyme have raised £500 for the Alzheimer’s Society.
Mill Rise Village – where care is provided by Accord Housing Association in partnership with Aspire Housing – held an afternoon tea event where residents and their family were invited to tuck into cakes and sing along to traditional songs.
A pie and pea supper, with food donated by Wrights Pies, and a pampering afternoon - where people could indulge in a manicure or new hair-style - were also arranged and the residents’ committee donated a night’s bingo collection.
Jenny Mullinder, care manager at the village, said: “In just one week we managed to raise £500 which both residents and staff here are very proud of.
“We would like to say a big thank you to all those that got involved in not only attending but also organising the fund-raising events that we held.
“We hope that the money we have raised will really benefit the Alzheimer’s Society – a charity close to our hearts.”
