City West Housing Trust gets in the swing for charity

Executives at City West Housing Trust teed off its charity work with a golf day to raise vital funds for Kidney Research UK.

Tim Doyle, chief executive, and fellow directors Paul Carhart, Colette McKune and Paul Whitehead were ‘on the bags’ having been auctioned to caddy at a golf day held at Shaw Hill Golf Club near Chorley.

The event is part of a bigger fund-raising effort which sees 15 City West staff members cycling from London to Paris over four days starting at the end of June.

A target of £22,000 was set and so far over £25,000 has been raised, with £5,000 coming from the golf day, which as well as the caddy auctions, also included a dinner with prizes donated by a host of City West’s contractors and consultants auctioned off.

Tim Doyle is one of the 15 taking on the cycling challenge and he was the biggest draw, with £500 paid for him to carry the clubs for 18 holes.

He said: “Hauling a golf bag around the course for 18 holes is not easy but given it raised £500 for Kidney Research UK, I was more than happy to oblige and I’m sure Savills Commercial Limited thought it was money well spent!

“The 15 of us taking part in the London to Paris bike ride have been putting in a lot of training and although it is undoubtedly going to be very tough, we are really looking forward to the challenge.

“Kidney Research UK carries out some vital work and we are pleased to be able to help and hope as many people as possible can support us by donating as generously as they can.”
