Crest Nicholson to reshape Colchester hospital site
Crest Nicholson has been selected by the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) to deliver 248 homes at the site of the former Severalls hospital in Colchester, Essex.
The development marks the first stage of wider proposals that have outline planning consent for up to 1,500 new properties.
Crest Nicholson will build 30 one and two-bedroom apartments, 72 two-bedroom houses, 96 three-bedroom houses and 50 four-bedroom properties.
A quarter of the homes will be affordable housing for those on the housing needs list. The scheme will also tie in with the delivery of Colchester's Northern Approach Road and a new primary school, both of which will be overseen by Essex County Council.
James Moody, managing director of Crest Nicholson Eastern, said: "We are very pleased to be given the go-ahead for this fantastic project, which embodies the design, sustainability and partnership ethos of the business. We are looking forward to working with the HCA to deliver high-quality homes in such a great location as Colchester."
The company was selected after taking part in a competitive tendering process through the HCA's Deliver Partner Panel, which was established to cut the cost and time involved in choosing a developer.
