Denaby in line for improvement this month
Residents of Denaby, Doncaster can look forward to a cleaner, safer and more attractive neighbourhood as a series of initiatives is set to improve the area in May.
St Leger Homes of Doncaster, the organisation that manages around 21,000 homes for Doncaster Council, is funding skip and clean up days in the Manor Court area on May 16 and at Lincoln Close on 19 May.
It is one of many activities happening in the area as part of Neighbourhood Alliance – an intensive three-week project delivered through local safer neighbourhood teams (SNTs) throughout different areas in Doncaster.
The project involves the council, police, fire service, St Leger Homes and many other partners, all working together to tackle local issues and concerns raised by residents in the area.
St Leger Homes is joining forces with South Yorkshire Fire Service to carry out a series of joint tenancy visits and fire safety checks between now and 18 May. The local area will also be spruced up from 6 May as St Leger Homes teams up with Doncaster’s Community Arts team and local youngsters to brighten up six garages on Harlington court with street art designs.
Also in line for a facelift is the Harrogate Drive Communal Hall where the community payback scheme is to be used to repair walls and decorate the kitchen and toilets.
Community safety takes priority from 9 - 13 and 16 - 20 May (9am - 5pm) when St Leger staff join police officers in a mobile police unit on Woodlands Way.
St. Leger Homes neighbourhood manager, Dave Wilkinson said: “Knowing Denaby as I do, I’m sure the community will come together and support Neighbourhood Alliance. It’s a great opportunity to tackle the areas of concern in the community and work together to improve the area.”
