Energy saving lighting scheme to make TV debut

An energy saving pilot lighting scheme is set to feature on community television in Bracknell Forest.

The new light emitting diode (LED) lighting scheme has been installed by Bracknell Forest Homes in each of the communal hallways at Ladybank flats to give residents brighter lighting, more security and save energy. The LED technology saves energy, which will reduce bills, and will last five years with 50,000 running hours, which saves maintenance.

The Community TV film is aimed at providing information and promoting energy efficiency. The film is due to be shown from June at screens in leisure centres, doctor surgeries and cafes at Morrisons, Waterstones and Wyevale, and on Bracknell Forest Homes and Bracknell Forest Partnership’s websites.

The new lighting improvements will result in savings in carbon emissions and reduced energy bills. This means the money saved can be invested in other services to customers and the installation of emergency lighting.

Caroline Titley, chief executive of Bracknell Forest Homes, said: “We were pleased to support the Bracknell Forest Partnership’s Community TV film, which showcases an excellent scheme that improves the area for residents while also reducing energy emissions and saving in costs. It is an innovative scheme that was supported by the Energy Saving Trust.”
