Fantastic night for residents

More than 50 awards were handed out to residents and community volunteers at Walsall Housing Group’s (WHG) Recognising Our Customers & Communities (ROCC) awards. The event, held at Banks Stadium, recognises the efforts people have made in their spare time to benefit the communities where they live.

“This year’s WHG ROCC awards ceremony was a fantastic night and we are proud to have been able to celebrate the good work taking place by individuals across our neighbourhoods,” said Gary Fulford, WHG’s chief executive.

“The event is an excellent way for us to show our gratitude to those people in the community who give up their spare time to improve the lives of those around them and help to make Walsall a borough we can all be proud of.”

The event recognised activities such as the creation of community gardens, support for older people, and helping young people to learn new skills. As wall as applauding award winners, guests were entertained by performances from the Jane Lane School Choir and the jazz and swing group The Gershwin Gang.
