Final stage of Barton Hill gets underway
The Leadbitter Group has started work on the final stage of the regeneration of Barton Hill in Bristol.
This phase, worth £3.5 million, comprises 18 houses and three flats. When completed in a year’s time, these new homes will bring the five-year redevelopment of this area to a successful conclusion.
Known as H5, this final phase has been awarded to the Leadbitter Group under the Sovereign Development Consortium (SDC) framework, which was established in 2006. As part of the Consortium, Leadbitter was chosen to deliver the master plan for Barton Hill, which included more than 150 new homes in the New Deal for Communities (NDC) area. The homes have been developed to provide a mixture of tenures, including New Build HomeBuy, Rent to HomeBuy and General Needs Rent.
In addition to this latest phase, Leadbitter is currently constructing 26 affordable homes on the former site of Winstanley House.
Jake Rigby, senior development manager of Sovereign, said: “The regeneration of Barton Hill has been a significant and successful project for Sovereign and all local partners. Sovereign is really pleased to be working in partnership with Leadbitter to deliver this final phase of much needed affordable new homes for the Barton Hill area.”
The master plan also included a new urban park, new primary school and academy, a healthy living centre, new shops and community hub, as well as many security and environmental improvements to the area. The project has focused on physical regeneration which engenders community cohesion and also helps to deliver economic improvement throughout the regeneration area.
