Four Housing Group appoints manager to tackle affordable housing in Berwick Borough
A new development & regeneration manager has been appointed by Four Housing Group, to tackle the shortage of affordable housing and regeneration projects across the Berwick Borough.
Four Housing Group is the new parent company for Three Rivers Housing Association and Berwick Borough Housing.
Caryn Innes will oversee new housing developments and regeneration projects in both rural and urban communities across the Borough.
She joins the group from Cruden Homes in Edinburgh where she worked for two and half years as a development manager.
Commenting on her appointment, she said: "There is a real problem with the lack of affordable housing in the Borough and I am looking forward to the challenges ahead.
“Forming and establishing partnerships with local organisations and development trusts will play a key role in helping us to address this issue and we have already identified sites where development will take place.”
Head of development and regeneration for Four Housing Group, David Brown said: "Caryn is going to be a great asset to the team and brings with her a wealth of experience and knowledge of the housing sector.
"The provision of affordable housing is a problem across the Berwick Borough. Due to the increased number of second homes or holiday lets in places such as Seahouses and Berwick-upon-Tweed, it drives house prices up which in turn means younger people growing up in these areas do not get a chance to live there once they grow up. We are looking forward to working in partnership with the local community and developers to help try and address this issue."
The group are currently in talks with developers and the Community Land Trusts across the Borough including Berwick, Seahouses, Beadnell and Wooler.
