Genesis changes councils mind on affordable housing in Tottenham
Genesis has upturned a planning decision made by councillors in Haringey by arguing the case for affordable housing.
With the help from property agent Savills, the London based housing group convinced the council to change their minds on the scheme that would see a 27-home residential development in Tottenham built, including retail and offices.
Councillors originally rejected the application on the grounds that it meant demolishing a locally listed building. They also opposed the density and height of the development adding that there was no signed section 106 agreement in place.
Genesis and Savills convinced Haringey Council arguing the need for affordable housing at high density, as well as the financial contributions Genesis was making for road improvements.
Savills has also secured planning permission against 'fundamental planning issues' for a Genesis residential development in Enfield, overcoming concerns over protected trees, a conservation area and the impact on a listed building.
