Grant helps youngster on the road to success

Crook Town Juniors football team with their new gear

Young footballers from Crook will be putting their best foot forward this season thanks to sponsorship from Dale & Valley Homes’ Better Homes, Better Lives fund.

The youngsters of Crook Town Juniors received a smart new training kit with team hoodies to keep them warm on the training pitch.

Thanks to a grant of £500 from the Better Homes Better Lives fund the team, which has only been playing for two years, was able to invest in equipment to give the team a professional image.
Glen Turnbull, team manager, said: “They used to turn up in their own gear, Manchester United shirts and all sorts. Now they look like a proper team.

“We have only been going two years and are doing alright. The lads went out of the cup competition on penalties in the semi-finals last season, which isn’t bad for a team that has only been going two years.”

Peter Chaffer, chief executive of Dale & Valley Homes, which administers the fund, said: “It’s good to see young people being active and involved in sport. We hope the players all get a lot out of taking part and that the team does well this season.”
