Housing Association tackle climate change
Two Castles Housing Association is to use innovative new technology in a bid to help combat climate change.
The association is currently in the process of installing Air Source Heat Pumps in some of its properties.
Air Source Heat Pumps are a form of microgeneration technology which is relatively new to the British Isles. It works by extracting heat from the outside air then transferring it to the house through radiators or underfloor heating.
John Hay, development director at Two Castles, said:
“Even at very cold outside temperatures, the air source heat pump is able to extract enough heat from the air to heat your home.
“By using energy more efficiently we can help to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by up to two tonnes per year.”
There will be no cost to residents for installation of the pumps.
