Inspace and Mears win Birmingham contract

Inspace Partnerships and Mears Group have been chosen by Birmingham City Council to deliver and manage the repairs and maintenance service to the north of the city.

The scope of the repairs and maintenance service will cover work such as emergency repairs, Right to Repair jobs, responsive repairs, void maintenance etc, to fulfil the council's statutory obligations as a landlord.

A stakeholder evaluation panel was set up to assess the bids, including two tenants and one leaseholder representative. Bids had to meet strict criteria in terms of value for money, innovation and improvement, delivering a joined-up service and the "Right Service Right First Time".

The new contracts will commence on 1 April 2008 with an initial term of 4.5 years with an option to extend for an additional 3 years subject to satisfactory performance and achievement of contractual cost and Key Performance Indicators.

Inspace partnerships will provide service in Sutton Coldfield, Erdington, Perry Barr and Ladywood. Mears Group will provide service in Hodge Hill and Yardley.
