KHT lands £5m to build new homes in Knowsley

Knowsley Housing Trust (KHT), part of the First Ark Group, has received £5million of funding to build 241 homes across Knowsley from now until 2015.

The money has come from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) as part of the Affordable Homes Programme.

First Ark Group, chief executive Bob Taylor, said: “This investment will provide a massive boost to the housing supply in Knowsley and will be a real stepping stone to the future regeneration of the borough.”

The new homes will be spread across Halewood, Huyton, Kirkby, Prescot and Whiston. The properties will be a mix of two, three and four bedroom homes and bungalows.

KHT submitted its bid to the HCA, supported by KMBC, earlier this year and is among 146 housing organisations across the country to be successfully awarded funds.

The HCA is investing £1.8billion in the Affordable Homes Programme over the next four years, with the aim of delivering 80,000 new homes.
