Knowsley Housing Trust delivers Christmas hampers

Knowsley Housing Trust (KHT) delivered special hampers for elderly and vulnerable tenants over the Christmas period.

Staff members volunteered their time to help make up 60 hampers, together with young tenants from the Octavia Court Tenants’ Committee.

The hampers were funded through KHT’s Advantage scheme which helps to reward tenants, and contained everything from soup and crackers to mince pies and chocolates.

Pat Hollingsworth, KHT’s executive director of customers and communities, helped put together and deliver some of the hampers. She said: “It was a lovely project to get involved in. We’ve worked on projects like this in previous years, but not on such a large scale before.”

The recipients were chosen by KHT housing officers who made sure that they went to only the most deserving tenants.

Hollingsworth continued: “It was great to see some of our younger tenants getting involved and giving up their time to help their fellow tenants.

“One couple we delivered a hamper to - Mr and Mrs Quigley in Prescot who have been married for over 60 years – said they were very happy to have been thought of at Christmas.”
