Larkfleet Group to provide housing for disabled

Bourne-based housebuilder and developer Larkfleet Group has started work on an affordable development in Clifton, Nottinghamshire, which will include properties designed especially for wheelchair users.

The development will comprise four self - contained apartments for adults with learning disabilities and two apartments especially designed for residents with mobility problems.

Nottingham Community Housing Association (NCHA) has designed the scheme in partnership with Larkfleet Group which will build the apartments to help meet the need for quality housing.

The properties meet the Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3 – some 25 per cent above the standard building regulations specification for energy performance – which highlights Larkfleet Group’s commitment to creating affordable, well-built and energy-efficient homes.

The timber frame construction being used is an efficient method of building which allows for quicker construction times. Timber frames for the homes will be supplied and erected by Kestrel Timber Frame, which is part of the Larkfleet Group.

Karl Hick, managing director of Larkfleet Group, said: “This development in Clifton will help meet the need for affordable housing in the area, allowing local people who have been priced out of the housing market to rent or own a high quality property at an affordable price.“

Allan Fisher, assistant director of development for Nottingham Community Housing Association, commented: “It will be a pleasure to work with Larkfleet Group on this development. These high quality homes will exceed standard building regulations in energy efficiency which will benefit residents now and in the future. I look forward to seeing the completed development.”
