Leadbitter starts work on Bristol housing scheme
The Leadbitter Group has started work on 26 new affordable homes on the former site of Winstanley House in Barton Hill, Bristol.
Part of the Sovereign Development Consortium (SDC) framework, the new development is another major milestone in the scheme to regenerate this area of Bristol.
Work on the new properties, comprising six apartments, 20 homes and associated parking, is due for completion in April 2011. All the new homes are being built to Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3 and include sustainable design elements such as low flow taps and low energy lighting.
The Sovereign Development Consortium was established in 2006. Leadbitter was then chosen as part of the Consortium to deliver the master plan for Barton Hill, which includes more than 150 new homes in the New Deal for Communities (NDC) area. The homes have been developed to provide a mixture of tenures, including New Build HomeBuy, Rent to HomeBuy and General Needs Rent.
The masterplan also includes a new urban park, new primary school and academy, a healthy living centre, new shops and community hub, as well as many security and environmental improvements to the area.
