Affordable housebuilder and regeneration specialist Lovell has been chosen by Bristol City Council to carry out refurbishment work on selected units in the council’s 30,000 homes for the next five years.

The contract, which comprises the fitting of new kitchens and new electrics to bring homes up to Decent Homes standard, was awarded by the council’s property management company, landlord services.

David Gough, regional director for Lovell in the Midlands, said: “This is a significant contract for us and we are delighted to have been chosen. Bristol City Council has a very positive and committed approach to bringing all of its council housing up to and beyond Decent Homes Standard, and we look forward to playing our part in making local people more comfortable in their homes. We have a team of experts who not only understand the value of technical skills but also of customer service, so I hope this will prove a very positive experience both for the council and its residents.”

Councillor Anthony Negus, cabinet member for housing, property services and regeneration, at Bristol City Council added: “Ensuring our homes are able to meet the Decent Homes Standards is a major undertaking for the council.

“The refurbishment work being undertaken will improve conditions for our tenants and maintain the value of our housing stock.”
