Morrison and Shelter team up to raise money

Leading repairs and maintenance provider Morrison has launched a new corporate partnership with Shelter that aims to raise £50,000 in one year, to help combat bad housing and homelessness across England and Scotland.

The relationship with Shelter is Morrison’s first corporate charity partnership and will see Morrison’s 3000 employees across England and Scotland supporting the charity during 2011.

Susan Stockwell, director of CSR at Morrison, said: “Having a corporate charity partner is a really exciting opportunity for Morrison and will help provide a national charitable focus that all our employees across the UK can focus upon together to achieve some fantastic results.

“Shelter’s vision of improving housing is very close to our hearts and many of our employees’ day jobs, creating a real alignment between our two organisations which is why we are so committed to supporting this charity.

“Over the next 12 months, we will be carrying out a wide range of activities across the company in order to support our new partner and have set ourselves an ambitious target to raise £50,000 for the cause.

Louise Parkes, director of fundraising at Shelter, said: “We’re absolutely delighted that Morrison has chosen us as their charity partner. Both Shelter and Morrison believe that everyone needs a home in a place where they can thrive, and by listening to our clients, both organisations help to find the best outcome for thousands of people across the country.

“With someone facing the prospect of losing their home every two minutes, Shelter’s services are needed now more than ever. The money raised through this exclusive partnership will enable us to help thousands more homeless and badly housed families over the coming year.”

Fundraising efforts have already started with Morrison planning numerous festive related activities throughout the company in the run up to Christmas, as well as entering a team of runners in the 2011 Virgin London Marathon in support of Shelter.
