Morrison launches new Scottish partnership
North Lanarkshire Council’s new 10 year housing and property maintenance service has started operation today. It is being provided by Morrison Scotland and will deliver a wide range of repairs and maintenance services to around 36,000 residents and 1000 council owned public buildings across the region.
Morrison Scotland is a Limited Liability Partnership between leading repairs and maintenance provider Morrison and North Lanarkshire Council (NLC), with the council owning a 33 per cent stake in the company and Morrison owning the remaining 67 per cent.
Morrison Scotland, which was officially launched last week, was set up following the successful award of the contract to Morrison earlier in the year. The ten year partnership is worth at least £30million per annum and is for the provision of a wide range of services including 24/7 housing and commercial property maintenance services, medical adaptations, school refurbishments and blacksmith products.
For the past decade the housing and property maintenance services in North Lanarkshire have been provided by Maintenance and Property Care (MPC), a joint venture between Morrison and North Lanarkshire Council and this new partnership represents a continuation of the relationship.
John Boyd, managing director of Morrison Scotland, said:
“The launch of Morrison Scotland marks an exciting time for our business; as all services for North Lanarkshire Council and all new work we secure in Scotland will now be delivered through the Morrison Scotland partnership.”
The Morrison Scotland Training Academy has also launched. It will operate in partnership with Motherwell College and will train over 1000 people in the North Lanarkshire region over the next decade.
