NCH apprentices triumph at national awards
Nottingham City Homes (NCH) was three times a winner at the 2011 Association of Public Service Excellence (APSE) Awards.
Apprentices Matthew Derbyshire and Helen Cort were up for awards and NCH was also awarded for having two finalists and its overall commitment to training.
Derbyshire, an apprentice electrician, was named the winner of the Mechanical and Electrical section and Cort, an apprentice plumber, came second in the female Mechanical and Electrical awards.
Both have been a part of the repairs and maintenance team at NCH. Cort even had the chance to work on some of its new build properties earlier this year.
The pair picked up their awards from chief executive Nick Murphy at the Nottingham City Homes annual general meeting on Thursday 13 October 13 in front of an audience of tenants, leaseholders and councillors.
Nick Murphy said:
“Matthew and Helen are dedicated apprentices and it's fantastic to see them representing Nottingham and winning at the national APSE Awards.
“I am also hugely pleased that the company has been recognised for its commitment to training — particularly after being named one of the country's top 100 employers for apprenticeships earlier this year.
“We will continue to provide apprenticeships through our One in a Million scheme as part of our commitment to tackling worklessness across Nottingham.”
