New affordable housing in Torbay

Affordable housing in Torbay has received a major boost with the completion of 32 energy efficient properties for local residents.

Sanctuary Group has developed the properties in Rayleigh Avenue in partnership with Torbay Council, contractors Barratt Homes and the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA).

The £3million scheme has been made possible thanks to an investment of nearly £2million from the HCA.

Built beside Torquay Boys Grammar School, the scheme comprises a mixture of two and three-bedroom houses and flats and one specially adapted bungalow, with all properties built to Level 3 of the Code for Sustainable Homes.

Tony King, Sanctuary’s group director – Capital Investment, said: “This development demonstrates Sanctuary’s commitment to meeting the increasing need for high quality affordable housing in the region and has helped create more homes for local people.”
