New homes for Brownfield site
A derelict site on the edge of Worcester city centre is set to be redeveloped by Rooftop Housing Group to provide much-needed new homes.
The £2.5million scheme in the Lowesmoor area of the city will see a former GP surgery transformed into 22 affordable homes for rent. The development, which has just received planning permission, will vary in height between three and five storeys and will provide 20 two-bedroom flats and two one-bedroom flats. Fifteen car parking spaces and bicycle storage are also included in the plans, while a nearby mini-roundabout junction will be redesigned.
Tim Wade, head of development at Rooftop Housing Group said: “We are delighted to have received planning permission for this exciting scheme that will provide much-needed affordable homes for rent. This environmentally sustainable development will feature high-quality contemporary design that will add greatly to the regeneration of this important brownfield site. We have undertaken extensive consultation locally to address any potential issues and thanks to the support of Worcester City Council, the Matrix Housing Partnership and the HCA, we can now look forward to starting work on this landmark project.”
The new properties will be built to at least Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3.
