Riverside organises beach trip for inner city kids
Children from inner city London have enjoyed their first trip to the seaside courtesy of their landlord Riverside.
Families from Camberwell, Beckenham and Westminster enjoyed beach games, volley ball and sand arts at Margate beach, with Riverside providing free transport.
Community initiatives officer, Wendy Mason, organised the trip in partnership with Thanet Coast Project.
She said: “We set up the beach party some months ago, before the riots broke out, but it was really well timed to get families away from the disturbances for the day and take time out for some seaside fun. Some of the children had never been to the coast before and it was great to see them enjoying the sea and sand.”
Forty tenants took part in the trip, which is one of a range of community initiatives to support Riverside’s neighbourhoods in the South East.
