Sandwell Homes is to move into new premises thanks to nearly £8 million of funding from The Royal Bank of Scotland.

CDS Properties, a Birmingham-based property company who received a £7.9million funding package from The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS), has just completed building new premises for Sandwell Homes.

With RBS backing, the new premises - located in the Direct 2 Industrial Park, Roway Lane, Oldbury - have been developed according to the exact specifications of Sandwell Homes. The 75,000 square foot facility contains 40,000 square foot of fully fitted out comfort cooled offices and a 30,000 square foot workshop.

The tenants, who have entered a 30-year lease, will move into the property at the end of this month.

Sandwell Homes, part of the Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council, is responsible for managing 30,000 council homes in Oldbury, Rowley Regis, Smethwick, Tipton, Wednesbury and West Bromwich (covering a total of 8,600 hectares).

Brian Oakley, chief executive of Sandwell Homes said:

"The development of the Sandwell Homes office is part of a larger scheme to enhance the Council's services to the Black County area and will enable the existing Sandwell Homes site to be released as a key site for the redevelopment of West Bromwich. Sandwell Homes manages, maintains and improves Sandwell Council's housing and estates, and plays a pivotal role in providing all council tenants and leaseholders with the excellent standard of housing they deserve.

We are very happy with the new premises and look forward to a sustained and strong relationship with CDS and welcome the backing they have received from RBS to complete the project."

A&H Construction is the contractor for the new development.
