Sheffield Homes appoints new chair

Sheffield Homes, the largest Arms Length Management Organisation (ALMO) in the country, has appointed a new Chair of its Board of Directors.

Janet Dean was selected by a panel including tenant directors and the chief executive of Sheffield City Council, for which Sheffield Homes manages 42,000 properties.

Janet Dean has more than 25 years experience in the public sector. She was a member of Transform South Yorkshire, the Housing Market Renewal Pathfinder, and was a director of both South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive and Renaissance South Yorkshire (an urban regeneration company).

She is now joint owner of the Dean Knight Partnership Ltd, which is a consultancy focusing on urban regeneration and historic building restoration, and which works with local authorities and regional and national agencies on major housing improvement and regeneration projects.

Dean is currently a non-executive director of the Yorkshire and Humber Strategic Health Authority and a Governor of Sheffield Hallam University and a member of its Audit Committee.

She will take over from Professor Tony Crook when he steps down in September.
