Shrewsbury housing scheme pulled
15th August 2008
Plans for a housing scheme in Shrewsbury have come to a halt after two developers pulled out.
The scheme was planned for the former Tesco site in Arlington Way and included affordable housing.
Following the absence of the developers buying the site, Atcham Borough Council leaders are now saying it is likely the land will not be sold and will instead be passed on to the new unitary council as an asset.
Plans by the borough council to sell the site to property company Morris Homes for £6.75 million fell through earlier this year along with an £8 million agreement with David Wilson Homes that also fell through.
An update report is due to be prepared for the council's cabinet committee on September 1.
