Sooner Decent in Selby
Selby District Council is set to complete its Decent Homes programme by September – three months ahead of schedule.
The programme began in 2007 to refurbish bathrooms and kitchens, revamp central heating systems, and carry out other improvements such as roof and window repairs. Throughout the process, the council says it “kept a close eye” on tenant satisfaction, and two of its contractors – Hobson & Porter and Lovell Partnerships – were singled out having been “extremely high” throughout.
“The Decent Homes project was originally due to be completed by December this year. We are delighted that the scheme will be completed ahead of schedule. The Decent Homes project is a major part of our commitment to delivering the best housing service we can within our budget and fits within our long-term healthier communities work,” said Councillor Gillian Ivey, chair of the council’s social board.
