Stewart Milne Construction to build new council housing in Aberdeen

Stewart Milne Construction has been awarded three contracts with a combined value of £10 million to build the first new council housing in a generation for Aberdeen City Council.

In the first phase of the council’s new-build programme, the firm will deliver 85 quality homes, all built to a high standard and environmentally sustainable.

Two of the projects, at Hayton Road and Byron Park, will consist of two- to four-bedroom family homes, while the third at Cults will consist of 27 amenity-standard one and two bedroom flats.

Bill Imlach, managing director of Stewart Milne Construction said: "We are delighted to have been awarded these contracts by Aberdeen City Council and this is a welcome boost for the company, particularly in the current economic conditions.

“We intend to incorporate some of the latest sustainable technologies and specifications to ensure energy efficiency and low running costs for the tenants. “It's been some time since the authority has been in a position to commission new housing and we look forward to working with them to provide high quality homes."

Completion is scheduled in March next year.
