Tristar Homes celebrates first successful bidder on Choice Based Lettings Scheme

Staff at Tristar Homes celebrated with their first successful bidder on their new Choice Based Lettings Scheme, which was launched last month.

Awet Yemane, successfully bid for his first Tristar home, a one bedroom flat in Portrack, following the launch of the scheme last month.

The new Choice Based Lettings Scheme, COMPASS, was launched to give customers more choice in deciding where they would like to live. Some of the local housing organisations involved in the scheme include Erimus Housing, Coast and Country, Housing Hartlepool, and Darlington Council. To ‘bid’ (apply) for the properties through the scheme, people can register with COMPASS to view the vacant property listings.

A first time customer with Tristar Homes, Mr Yemane said: “I am delighted and very happy with my new flat. It is very nice and my neighbours seem friendly. It is my first time with Tristar Homes and in the area and I found the bidding system very straight forward and easy enough to use.”

Maggie Gibson, home choice customer support manager at Tristar Homes, was keen to celebrate with the first bidder. She said: “We wanted to mark the occasion of the new scheme with our first successful bidder with a bottle of bubbly so he could celebrate with friends or family in his new home. In the first month of choice based lettings, we have had hundreds of bids and look forward to offering our customers more and more choice.”
