Waterloo chosen for Cannock redevelopment

Cannock Chase District Council has chosen Waterloo Housing Association to carry out the redevelopment of the Elizabeth Road area in Cannock.

The scheme will involve one hundred properties being demolished with new homes built by Waterloo in partnership with contractor Thomas Vale Construction.

There will be a choice of homes for rent, or to buy outright or through shared ownership with Waterloo.

Open spaces will be redesigned and new play areas provided. Proposals for a community facility and a new road layout are also being considered.

Waterloo has worked with the council to provide affordable homes for more than 20 years.

Cannock Chase Council's head of housing Ian Tennant said: "We are confident that the new scheme will be designed and constructed to the highest standard ensuring the area's long-term sustainable future."

Chris Jones, director of development and regeneration at Waterloo, added: "Using the strengths and skills of the partnership, we aim to reinvigorate the Elizabeth Road area by building high quality, exemplary homes in a mix of tenures.

"Our focus is on creating and supporting a sustainable community, where people want to live now and in the future. It's an exciting project, with which we are very pleased to be involved."
