Wrekin Housing Trust sets out green strategy

The Wrekin Housing Trust has developed a new strategy to help the environment and ensure a sustainable future for its homes and tenants.

The Shropshire landlord has been working with Sustainable Homes, England's leading sustainable housing training organisation, and a 2008 Sustainable Housing Awards finalist, to develop its new Environmental Sustainability Strategy.

The views of tenants, staff and partners of the trust have helped to shape this strategy, which sets out the joint partnership and the trust’s responsibilities in responding to climate change and environmental issues.

David Hall, head of asset management said: “We are aware that many of our tenants and partners share our concerns about the environment, and we will be rolling out a 3 year action plan that accompanies the strategy.”

“The strategy will benefit our tenants as it reinforces the organizations aim to reduce ‘fuel poverty’ and ensure all tenants have affordable warmth, by offering free energy advice visits and investing in improvements in tenants homes.”
