The first phase of major Decent Homes improvements to council homes of non-traditional construction in Horsley Hill, South Shields, started on 1 August.
South Tyneside Homes has been working in partnership with the award-winning Tyne Gateway Project to launch the ‘Home Buddy’ pilot scheme, to help young people living in council homes cope with the responsibilities of managing their own tenancy.
South Tyneside Homes, who manage and maintain around 18,000 council homes in the borough, have agreed a five-year contract with BT South Tyneside to provide them with technology and services.
When it came to thanking a resident of a South Shields estate for her translation skills, South Tyneside Homes and its regeneration partner Frank Haslam Milan (FHM) North East chose to express their gratitude in the universal language of flowers.
